iPhone Spaces – Is there a Possibility?

Usually in iPhone’s User Interface, if you need to move an application from one screen to another you’ve to drag it across. Let’s say you’ve 4 Screens in your iPhone, to move an application from 1st Screen to the 4th Screen is a pain, you’ve to drag it across all the screens in between.

It’s just like to listen to 4th Voicemail you’ve to go to all 3 of them above it. Apple eliminated that pain by introducing Visual Voicemail. So why not try something with arranging the apps.

I thought it would be helpful if somehow Apple implements Spaces in iPhone, just like it did in Leopard.

Here’s a mockup of how it’ll look like… please read through and click ‘Next >’ to proceed further.

    Great idea!!!!

But, theres gotta be a better way of activating it. Not everyone likes having a empt space in the right hand corder.maybe something like a double tap at two corners or something… not sure.

I just think activation needs to be better

Would it be possible to also run applications on different screen, this way we can have several apps running at the same time, and it would easy to switch through the applications.

I agree that Apple needs to change how we arrange apps and icons on the home screens. I’m sure they are already working on this for probably a 3.0 update with the next gen iPhone. I do like the idea you present here, but one issue with this method is the size of the icons. If you have 4 pages you are already making the icons 1/4 the size, what if you have more pages?

Maybe taking your idea and having the ability to zoom in/out of the screens could help. Should be interesting to see what Apple comes up with.

Right… As per my example, if we try to put more than 4 screens then it would definitely create issues…

May be in this mode we can have a swipe navigation for the set of 4 screens… I mean user swipe those 4 screens and the next 4 will come up.

The original idea presented here was just a random thought after seeing Spaces in Leopard. May be Apple has some better solution than this.

There is a problem that could arise with this. If you have multiple programs running on the iPhone, there is a possibility of getting a memory overflow error. So they would have to find a way to place each running proc into a sort of standby that takes up a minimal memory, then it *might* work.
